Humanistic themes lie at the heart of Somnath Hore’s practice, particularly his prints, in which he excelled. Though meditative to look at in the first instant, Hore’s white-on-white works, an emergence of his series, Wounds, on closer look reveal the horror and the helplessness of not just man but also animal. We see in this Untitled etching a bony animal that appears weak and hungry. The upper half of the etching depicts an animal carcass, hinting at what lies ahead for the poor animal.
