Gopal Ghose creates here an imposing landscape that is rendered delicately to immediately draw in the viewer. The colour scheme allows the painting to have breathing space even as it conveys a richness in quality, texture and treatment. The blue of the skies and water interspersed with huts shown in deep red along with the greenery—all these elements add lustre to the painting. ‘Landscapes,’ Gopal Ghose, commented, ‘are the next wonder-world to me… lungs of the soil… I breathe in landscapes.’
