This still-life is composed of Gopal Ghose’s favourite elements—flowers, which appear in a planter, almost like a profuse blanket of lemon-yellow and white foliage. Whether these are exotic vine flowers or creepers, we can’t be sure but clearly these are cheerful and captured by the artist with tremendous spontaneity. Just like his watercolour brushstrokes, here, too, the artist seems to work swiftly allowing for smudges of colour, masterful strokes, dashes, and daubs to create an overall compelling image.
