A majority of Indian artists have at some point or the other in their respective artistic careers rendered Mahatma Gandhi, interpreting the iconic statesperson in their own way. For most Indian artists, rendering Gandhi in their work has been a way of paying homage to the Father of the Nation. Dhanapal’s bust of the Father of the Nation created in bronze shows the artist’s remarkable draughtsmanship and his control over the expression of the subject, giving it its sheer vitality and expression.
