Critics reckon that Abanindranath Tagore’s art should be revisited continuously given the range and repertoire of his oeuvre. Deeply impacted by Oriental art and working in ink and other mediums, Tagore created not just a rich body of work but also fundmentally influenced many students who would later derive their individual pictorial diction from his guidance. Tagore found influence in various artistic movements, imbibing them in his own art, including surreal imagery as shown in this Untitled work, which seems like a satire on classroom education.
