A collective ceramic session with artist Samiddha Choudhuri, responding to Madhvi Parekh's curious visual world, where participants work with clay to craft their own tiles — exploring surreal forms, fantastical creatures, and playful pigments.
About the artist:
Samiddha Choudhuri is a Kolkata-based artist working with clay and ink. He holds a BFA in Design (Ceramics and Glass) from Kala Bhavana, Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan, and an MA in Ceramics from the University of Pécs, Hungary. An exchange at ASP Wrocław, Poland introduced him to niche ceramic methodologies that expanded his practice toward larger forms. His recent body of work, Caricatures of Architecture, examines the personalities embedded within built and inhabited environments — an inquiry extended into clay through sculptural caricatures that create a dialogue between structure, narrative, and material. Alongside his studio practice, Samiddha runs Soushi Studios, a ceramic space fostering making and learning through clay, workshops, and community-driven initiatives. His practice is rooted in storytelling through form, drawing, and observation.
This Artists' Response programme is part of DAG's exhibition Madhvi Parekh: A Life in Line, Memories, and Myth, in collaboration with the Alipore Museum, Kolkata.
