If there is one feature that distinguishes the work of M. Reddappa Naidu, it is the lyrical quality of the line. This affinity for a strong line has, of course, been a defining feature of south Indian art, whether traditional or contemporary, to which Naidu bears regional affinity. Naidu has refined his line with an exquisite sensibility and creates in this work a strong personal interpretation to depict Krishna surrounded by gopis (milkmaids) in Vrindavan. The colour palette is suggestive of spaces such as the forest of Kadambini and the waters of river Yamuna.
