Proficient in flower studies, a theme which he returned to repeatedly, Ajit Krishna Gupta, one of India’s noted muralists (he worked on a mural in the Parliament House, New Delhi), keenly worked on the chromatic, allowing for his work to project a sense of lyricism and poetry. The cluster of leaves in this Untitled work immediately allows the viewer to witness the visual command of the artist, especially given the perfect brushstrokes that Gupta applies to reveal the details of the subject while the markings create an impression of depth.
