Ajit Krishna Gupta was a noted muralist of his times, inspired by the temples of India, and in many of his paintings, we find a homage to the tradition of Indian art. The artist did quite a few flower studies too, capturing in great detail the petals as they blossomed, the leaves and the branches as they swayed gently, creating them on a variety of material including silk and other fabrics. Inspired also by the Oriental art, Gupta’s paintings are a harmony of colour, texture, vitality, an interplay between light and shadow.
