Join us for Dazzling Lights, Still Grandeur: Foreign Artists in India, 1857 to 1947, a walkthrough of DAG's exhibition Destination India, with Dr Ursula Weekes, an art historian specialising in Indo-European interactions in the Mughal era, as she reflects on what foreign artists sought here in the 19th century, and why this might interest us today.

In the years between the Uprising and Independence, a wave of foreign artists found themselves drawn to India, defining a shift in artistic focus. Featuring over forty foreign artists, Destination India: Foreign Artists in India, 1857-1947 offers a rich, intimate portrayal of a nation in the midst of transformation, through paintings on display for the first time in India.
