Although it is not known precisely where and when this sculpture was made, the depiction of the tiger stripes recalls objects made at the court of Tipu Sultan, and the tigers’ posture recalls the famous automaton known as Tippoo’s Tiger. It also closely resembles carved and painted wooden toys that are known to have been made in Channapatana.
