Arun Bose’s print invariably evokes an air of mystery that’s highlighted by the interplay of light and shadow. The quasi-abstractionist spent a large part of his career teaching and working in New York, and contributed significantly to Indian printmaking through the Society of Contemporary Artists, of which he was an important member. Rendered in a colourful palette, this work shows Bose’s dexterity and skill as a master printmaker who combines an interesting colour scheme with neat lines in his visual vocabulary.
