One of the founding members of the Cholamandal Artists’ Village, M. Senathipathi has created works inspired from mythological traditions of Hinduism. Senathipathi’s sensibilities were anchored to his regional traditions because of his close association with the rites and rituals at home and extended as worship in the temples. Interestingly, Krishna and Gopis shows how, through free interpolation, the artist creates a flowing line that is geometric and organic, structured and lyrical. The artist’s regional roots stand out in the current theme with an equally evocative colour palette.
