DAG Museums
May 01, 2023
DAG Museums, in collaboration with the Indian Museum, organised a Playfair on 24 and 25 March, 2023
The Playfair included games that were inspired by the artworks in our collection
They included a murder mystery game, a treasure hunt, card games and tactile tableaus, among others
The games were intended to make participants comfortable around works of art
It was also oriented towards stoking their curiosity about artists and artworks that are an integral part of our history
The Indian Museum provided the perfect venue where the nation's cultural past merges seamlessly with the present
The popular game 'Talpatar Sipahi' required participants to make their own flappable models with scissors, strings and glue.
Auditory clues were played to help participants imagine famous artworks in their own way
The Murder Mystery game involved a scandalous death in colonial Calcutta's art circles!
The Playfair ended with a concert by the gypsy jazz band, The Big Other
The programme allowed participants to find new ways to interact with their artistic heritage
The Indian Museum lawns were enlivened by the games we played over two days
