Doing an impressive number of flower studies, Ajit Krishna Gupta, who taught at the art school in Calcutta, creates in this Untitled painting an impressive background in ochre tone, rendering what looks like a member of the family Solanaceae—either Jimsonweed (Datura) or the poisonous Hyoscyamus niger (Henbane). The fine detailing of the painting with yellow flowers and big-sized leaves that have shades of green highlighting both, their adaxial and abaxial surfaces, is accentuated by the deftness with which the artist shows this striking plant.
