A curatorial walkthrough with Kishore Singh, in collaboration with Art & Wonderment, of Gogi Saroj Pal: Mythic Femininities, the second retrospective on India’s pioneering feminist woman painter, Gogi Saroj Pal that examines the artist’s career across six decades, from the 1960s to the 2020s, including paintings of female protagonists—nayikas, kinnaris, kamdhenus and hath-yoginis—conjured up from her own mythmaking.

In the making since 2022, and following a successful showing in Delhi, the retrospective travels to DAG, Mumbai, opening on 6 July 2024, will be on view for a period of six weeks. This exhibition celebrates an artist who lit up the visual arts world with a host of endearing figures while expressing her concerns over misogyny, patriarchy, and marginalisation.
