Prabhakar Barwe’s rejection of the established trends of evolving modernism in Indian art coincided with the arrival of the neo-tantra movement on the horizon. He embraced the tantra philosophy as it provided him with the mojo that he had been looking for as inspiration beyond the dreary art school education. Through its geometrical symbols and their composition, tantra helped him find a bridge between form and formlessness. It also aided him in expressing the ‘mystery of the visible-invisible’, as evident in this colour field composition.
