Having done a lot of work in ink in the initial years of her artistic practice, Arpita Singh created art from the perspective of a contemporary woman negotiating struggles in daily life. Singh’s heroines were strong yet vulnerable, coping with daily struggles, trials, and tribulations. The artist often created other elements, in this instance, a car, to pair with her female protagonist. Painting women with empathy, the work here, too, immediately draws in viewers to engage in a conversation with the subject.
