Please join us for a walkthrough of Vision & Landscape: Aquatints of India with art historian and curator Giles Tillotson, exploring the celebrated plates of Oriental Scenery, which were well received in Britain for their detailed and accurate depiction of Indian architecture and scenery. Bringing the work before a modern-day Indian audience, the exhibition invites us to scruitinize it with new eyes, and Giles Tillotson investigates whether reactions differ across time and place.

Fellow (and former Director) of the Royal Asiatic Society, Giles Tillotson is currently Senior Vice President at DAG. His specialisms include the history and architecture of the Rajput courts of Rajasthan and of the Mughal cities of Delhi and Agra; Indian architecture in the period of British rule and after Independence and landscape painting in India.

Curated by Dr. Giles Tillotson, Vision & Landscape: Aquatints of India showcases a complete and rare set of one-hundred-and-forty-four aquatint prints collectively known as Oriental Scenery that represent the single-largest and most impressive project by English artists to depict Indian architecture and landscape.
