This quintessential tantra work by G. R. Santosh—the pioneer of the neo-Tantra movement of Indian modern art—hails from the mature phase of his career, made nearly two decades after his spiritual transformation in Amarnath that launched him on the path of tantra as an artist. It represents the body in its infinite nature—the atman and sharira, male and female, microcosm and macrocosm. The mooladhara chakra at the base blossoms into a lotus representing union with the cosmos while black void at the head implies elimination of the egocentric self. The geometrical symbols are borrowed from tantric lexicon, but the usage is distinctive.
