Felice Beato is one of the most well-known commercial war photographers of the nineteenth century. He came to India in 1858 and recorded the aftermath of the Revolt of 1857. This is a photograph of one of the many gun batteries that the British had established close to the city walls of Delhi in the run up to the assault on the Red Fort in September 1857.
