The ruined arched gateway of the Kashmiri Gate, photographed by Samuel Bourne. Built by Major Robert Smith in 1835, the Kashmiri Gate was one of the northern gates of the city walls of Old Delhi. It was blown up when the British retook Delhi in September 1857.
