K. Laxma Goud

Kalal Laxma Goud is known for his powerful draughtsmanship and evocative imagery rooted in rural life and human experience. Born in the village of Nizampur (in present- day Telangana), Goud’s earliest memories of craft forms such as leather puppetry and terracotta ornamentation profoundly shaped his artistic sensibility, providing a wellspring of visual motifs that he would revisit throughout his long career.
Goud’s formal training began with a diploma in drawing and painting from the Government College of Fine Arts and Architecture, Hyderabad, followed by postdiploma studies in mural painting and printmaking at MSU Baroda, where he learned under masters including K.G. Subramanyan and was exposed to a vibrant milieu of artistic experimentation.
