Serenity is the first word that comes to mind when one looks at this work. '[Rajendra] Dhawan’s paintings are peaceful presences that calm and subdue the mind, while enjoining the viewer to stillness.’ A master of dry brush painting, Dhawan valued the act of painting more than any other aspect of art. This work from his later years perhaps presents the colours of age but remains true to decades of constant skill. His remarkable body of work boasts of a universal art that no culture, Indian or European, can claim unshared credit for.
