The durbar medal, with the crowned head on the obverse. On the reverse is the legend in Persian – ‘Ba fazl e malik e mulk Edward sabi Qaisar e hind’ which means ‘By the Favour of the Lord of the Realm Edward, King, Emperor of India, 1901’ and a chronogram giving the date 1901, the year of Edward VII’s accession. The wreath around the inscription shows the rose, thistle, shamrock, and lotus intertwined.
