Apophenia was a trope that was treated brilliantly by Prabhakar Barwe, of which this work is yet another riveting example. Objects, seemingly unrelated, find themselves juxtaposed and occupying a common plane. The objects become the more interesting because the artist has turned the table on their sizes as commonly understood. A man smaller than a looking glass shaped like an apple gazes into it, and finds himself reflected in a tiny image. A set of three abandoned settees on one side and an abandoned staircase on the other add perspective to the picture just as a cloud swollen with rain looms large over all things surreal.
