Centuries seem to co-exist in this surrealist landscape by Prabhakar Barwe. The image is dominated by two seraphim-like winged humans, both female, that evoke the mythology of Abrahamic religions. So does the naked torso of what appears to be a decapitated stone statue. These images from an ancient past seem to have floated into present times in a modern, built city, evident from the brick wall in the background and multi-storied buildings rising up on the far horizon. Despite a surrealist narrative, Barwe’s exploration of the space-object concept continues as a series of fantasy dwellings turn the narrative on its head given their miniscule size compared to the winged creatures.
