The New Born

In his exploration of space and objects, Prabhakar Barwe did not restrict himself to juxtaposing seemingly odd objects in ways we are not used to seeing or understanding. In a rare narrative work in the genre, The New Born showcases his ability to turn an apparently common landscape into an unusual work of art. Its elements are individually identifiable, but their presentation is illusory. A newborn looks up at its fellow feathered creatures amidst the sun and the cloud; the cloud could even be the canopy of a tree; other shapes are nondescript—typical of Barwe who twists our common understanding of everyday entities.
