This early ink on paper drawing by Prabhakar Barwe carries the seeds of his ideas that would result in works of abstractionism later on, and his seminal written work, Kora Canvas (1990). He would write in his book: ‘A form is created by binding, joining, arranging particular components in a particular way.’ The idea is very evident in the work under consideration for a blank space has been superimposed with various shapes by virtue of lines joining each other in a certain way. The forms thus created do not have resonance with common everyday objects but by existing in this fashion, they have given birth to a certain shape, fashioned out of shapeless space.
