While studying art at London’s Central Saint Martins, Altaf made several nude studies of life models. Even though this work is not dated, it appears to be one such pencil sketch executed in London. The artist captures the model in different poses, practicing skills to draw human anatomy from different angles. The lines appear fluid and pliable in the artist’s hand. It’s interesting to note that it is the mattress, and not the figure of the model, that the artist practises his skill of shading with utmost vigour.
