It would be interesting to note that the night before Altaf made this sketch in London, he had watched the Japanese film She and He (1963, directed by Susumu Hani). It was a story which involved, among other things, a middle-class woman being attracted to a man of the slums. Could it have been an influence for this drawing titled Adultery? The answer lies in the realm of conjecture, but the artist exhibits deftness with which he creates a love triangle through intertwined bodies.
