This lovely, riverside view of a tourist destination seems to have been made by Altaf at leisure, with his mind and heart not as restless as they would often be. Altaf savoured good things in life with the tenderness they deserved, and that included travel. The great attention to detail he paid in creating this monochromatic picture postcard—the chairs at Café de France and Bar Marie, the interiors of houses discernible through open slatted windows, the living quarters at different levels, chiaroscuro on boats in the foreground—beg the viewer to look at it with as much love as was given in creating it.
