This aesthetic abstract work was painted by Altaf during a period of intense reading, sketching and painting, as is discernible from his journals that he kept for a decade between 1963 and ’73. Though he often seemed unhappy with his own progress in art, the work belies his assumption of his own talents. It is a controlled composition of a boundary wall built of boulders, yonder which lies a grassy piece of land, perhaps a rolling meadow that the artist has deftly created through graded brushstrokes.
