Altaf presents a face rendered with deliberate distortion, marked with columns of short horizontal stripes spanning across the face and neck. The neck, protruding upwards into the head, lacks natural shape, representing a distorted sense of self. The eyes, also striped, appear transfixed, as if in a trance.  Separated from the rest of the face, the lips float in front of the head bearing a cigarette between them, symbolising a lack of control over our words and actions. The work seems to be a visual representation of a mechanical life where one has no control over the choices one makes and no understanding of their impact.
