Altaf’s sketch transports us to the picturesque harbour town of Cassis in southern France. In this hurried, yet captivating sketch, the artist unveils the essence of a moment, reminiscent of his first hand encounter with the French coastal town. The handwritten ‘Cassis’ on the top right serves both as a title and marker of time and memory. Along the pier, there is a swarm of boats on the left, and while there is an outline of more on the other side of the work, the sketch seems to have been left midway, much like a thought interrupted.
