Faces and figures remained a constant theme/topic of interest for Altaf in his work. The human face fascinated Altaf and he made numerous distorted portraits throughout his career. Perhaps what piqued his interest in faces was that each revealed the personality behind it. His faces display his draughtsmanship and imagination. These two figures have a caricaturist quality about them. Rendered in blue ink, the figure in the front is shown with a pointed nose, prominent lips, wearing thick glasses, while the bearded figure at the back, shown in a more abstract manner, seems to be smirking.
